PPACG serves as the Area Agency on Aging, the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation planning in the Colorado Springs urbanized and urbanizing areas, the regional water quality planning agency, and the lead agency for air quality planning in the urbanized portions of El Paso and Teller Counties. PPACG provides a forum for local officials to identify regional problems and opportunities, develop solutions, and make recommendations to local governments on area-wide strategies to deal with those issues.

Since 1966, the city and county have jointly operated a building department. Pikes Peak Regional Building Department now serves Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Fountain, Green Mountain Falls, Manitou Springs, Monument and Palmer Lake.

The Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, El Paso County, the City of Colorado Springs and Colorado Springs Utilities are participants in this model project. This allows for greater efficiency and savings in time for citizens of Colorado Springs and El Paso county. You can obtain plan approvals and permits for all building projects here.

SCORE “Counselors to America’s Small Business” -- a business partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration.

SCORE provides free, confidential business counseling to existing and prospective businesses. In addition, a free workshop “Should You Start Your Own Business” is provided regularly at Penrose and East Library locations. The local SCORE chapter has 40 volunteers with broad business expertise, dedicated to helping entrepreneurs grow their businesses. Small Business Development Center

SBDC is an educational non-profit organization. Its mission is to serve small businesses from start up to existing businesses. SBDC offers free or low cost workshops, business planning programs, free and confidential counseling and a resource center with a variety of brochures and publications. SBDC is partially funded by SBA, Pikes Peak Community College and hosted by the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.
